Reading and Improving

The weather was truly beautiful today and yesterday. I could see the bright sunshine and a clear sky with white clouds everyday. All the buildings and houses in our school just stood peacefully every day in the sunshine and gently blowing wind. I played the first round of golf practice for this year, and it wasn’t so bad. For today, even nothing special happened, it couldn’t stop me from having a good mood. The day seemed to be fantastic; it was so fabulous that I nearly forgot to finish my 30 days challenge.

Yesterday, I have read chapter 10 and 11, and today, I have just finished chapter 12 and 13. Actually, in my perspective, there was no exiting things happened. Those four chapters were just foreshadowing the upcoming events. What I supposed might be true in the following chapters, but it hasn’t happened yet. For the last blog, I thought that Emma wouldn’t match Harriet, her new best friend, and Mr. Elton, a rich priest in their community, successfully. That’s because of the exaggerated language the writer used to describe the “young couple”. The big turning point hadn’t happened yet, but I supposed that it would happen in the next chapter. Harriet was sick before a feast in chapter 13. Even though Emma told Mr. Elton about her sickness, he just showed his sorry for noticing the information instead of doing anything realistic for helping Harriet. Otherwise, John Knightley, Emma’s brother in law, thought that the person that Mr. Elton truly interested in was Emma. Thus, I might be right, and continuing reading it might prove my hypothesis.

According to the chapters, the writer has mentioned Mr. Weston’s son, Frank. He’s Mrs. Weston’s (Miss. Taylor) stepson. He lived in his uncle’s house, which was far away, and he chose to come back to Mr. Weston for a break. They talked about him and looked forward for his coming. Besides the concentrating of matching the young couples, Elizabeth, which was Emma’s sister, returned with Emma’s brother in law and Emma’s nephews made her exited. They talked a lot and shared their opinions about different things; it reminded me the gathering of my family. I didn’t have any siblings, but I did have some cousins who had a close relationship with me, and the elders in my family. I studied aboard and they lived in different cities all over China, it’s hard for all of us to get together. Even though they were young, it was so joyful to see them. I thought Emma might have the same opinion with me when she saw her sister, who already got married.

Until now, I have read one fifth of the whole book. The plot didn’t go fast enough as the books I usually read, I think it’s a little bit worse than Pride and Prejudice. However, I learned some language stuffs by reading the book. In the meantime, my vocabulary accumulation grew to a bigger amount. Lastly, I thought I got much familiar with the British literature and British English by reading the book. I hope I would got more improvement after finishing the 30-day-challenge.
